Visitors have to go through multiple points of authorization in order to gain physical access to the datacenters of Alibaba Cloud. In addition, sophisticated environmental controls are in place to prevent undesirable temperature and humidity levels for computing equipment being hosted. Various monitoring devices such as CCTVs, smoke detectors, moisture detectors and fire alarm systems are in place serving as both deterrent and detective measures to protect any equipment inside their datacenters.

Alibaba Cloud has policies and procedures established for logical access management of employee access rights as well. Operation personnel manage cloud products or services through the operations platform. Access is granted with role-based access controls (RBAC) and following the concept of the least privileges necessary for the operations platform. In addition, controls are in place to ensure segregation of duties and access rights. Alibaba Cloud also enforces multi-factor authentication to authenticate users of the operations platform.
